More Wrap-around Services: THC Wellness Day

In our second year we’ve made some progress building relationships with community members who can help bring much-needed wraparound services in mental and physical health to our program participants. We recently partnered with Southern Soul Wellness (@SouthernSoulWellness) and other practitioners to create a “THC’s Wellness Day.” This was an idea that we’ve been cooking up for a while to create a space that makes holistic wellness accessible to the girls in our program. They provided yoga (courtesy of @ce_monds) for our clients as well as massage therapy, courtesy of @thisway2liberation. We also partnered with an independent Reiki healer, who offered intensive healing sessions. For many of the girls, these were all new experiences, but for some, the event was a chance to reconnect with yoga for the first time in 10 years. It was so beautiful to see Muffin’s place come to life with all the girls. We can’t wait to continue creating community!

In November, we had our third and most successful event in our new Emory Hope Clinic x THC community series: Transgiving. We partnered again with Holiday Simmons (@thisway2liberation) of Southern Soul Wellness (@SouthernSoulWellness), who gave a talk on family and self-care around the holidays. We will also had games, music, and a thanksgiving dinner, and raffled off some prizes! The Emory Hope Clinic also spoke with the girls about a paid study for which they are actively recruiting trans women. If anyone reading this is interested in the study and wants to know the qualifications, please contact us!
