Housing Manager Job Description

Position Overview:

The Housing Manager at THC’s Transitional Home “Muffins Place” will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents. This position requires compassion, organizational skills, flexibility, PROFESSIONALISM, and a deep commitment to serving transgender individuals experiencing housing insecurity. The Housing Manager oversees all aspects of housing operations and resident support services, working closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

Resident Support:

  • Provide compassionate support and guidance to residents in navigating housing challenges, accessing resources, and achieving their housing goals.

  • Conduct intake interviews and assessments to understand residents' needs and develop individualized housing plans.

  • Coordinate case management services, including referrals to healthcare providers, mental health professionals, legal aid, and other support services as needed.

  • Facilitate house meetings, workshops, and activities to foster community building, skill development, and empowerment among residents.

Housing Operations:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the transitional home, including maintenance, cleanliness, and safety protocols.

  • Manage residents living quarters, move-ins, and move-outs in compliance with program policies and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of resident information, case notes, and program statistics.

  • Collaborate with Executive Director, case managers and maintenance staff to address building issues and ensure a comfortable living environment.

  • Monitor household budgets, expenses, and supplies, and coordinate with the Executive Director as needed.

Supervision and Training:

  • Ensure that operating procedures for all property activities are completely documented and that documented procedures are updated and revised as necessary

  • Collaborate with ACT teams and other treatment teams in place as needed

  • Participates in staff trainings as scheduled;

  • Participates in weekly staff meetings & trainings;

Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate relationships with local organizations, service providers, and community leaders to enhance support services and resources for residents.

  • Represent the Trans Housing Coalition at community events, meetings, and while communicating with different stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with partner agencies to advocate for transgender folk experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field (or equivalent experience). -Preferred not required

  • Previous experience working with transgender individuals, preferably in a housing or support services setting.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.

  • Knowledge of housing resources, social services, and LGBTQ+ issues.

  • Experience with case management, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Part-time between 10-20 hours weekly

  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
